The McKenzie Method:

The McKenzie Method gives patients control of their pain and empowers them to get back to the life they love.

The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (MDT) is a reliable and proven system that allows for effective identification of an accurate diagnosis, the proper treatment for that diagnosis and a predicted recovery pathway. It is backed by years of research, evidence and practice.

Treatment is patient centered and empowering, as the patient learns how to fix themselves and be in control of one’s symptoms, lessening dependency on medical intervention. MDT is also cost effective - using fewer treatment sessions than standard care - while education on self-treatment and prevention.

If you have pain in your spine, arms or legs then a McKenzie assessment is right for you.

MDT begins with an assessment which involves examining how your symptoms behave. The main difference from other methods is the use of repeated movements and careful questioning of the clinician regarding symptomatic change. This cause and effect of the movements is what allows the clinician to reach an accurate mechanical diagnosis. Each diagnosis is addressed with usually only ONE SIMPLE targeted exercise. By learning how to self-treat, you gain knowledge on how to minimize the risk of recurrence.

The GOAL is to optimize the best healing environment for the body without the need for costly medications, modalities, risky procedures or extensive visits to the clinic.

Hudson Valley Physio and Spine Care is the only Certified McKenzie Clinic in New York’s Hudson Valley.
